Visual Design
Over the past year, I have created visual designs for a new collaboration platform: IBM Watson Workspace. My visual design responsibilities included establishing and maintaining a product color palette, typography palette and visual pattern style guide. Additionally, I drew thirty product icons using IBM Design Language guidelines and provided various product illustrations. Although much of my visual design work applied to overall branding, I primarily focused on the iOS platform. As one of two iOS Watson Workspace designers, I created and refined iOS designs for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch devices. As part of the design team, I collaborated with other designers to solve complex design problems and to ensure consistency across platforms. I also worked directly with development teams, providing production-ready assets and design specifications while managing their accurate implementation.
User Experience Design
Although acting as a Visual Designer on the IBM Watson Workspace team, I quickly embraced user experience design as an essential component of my work. I created the foundation for many Watson Workspace iOS designs, including a user's ability to create a new Space and to manage that Space through Settings. Later, I took on additional UX responsibilities and owned the Direct Messages and @Mention designs for iOS, from drawing initial wireframes to delivering final design specifications and refining code. I also contributed UX designs within User Settings, Photo Selection, User Activity Awareness, System Text, In-App Notifications and Push Notifications. Design accessibility was an additional requirement for our team, so in addition to ensuring that all visual designs satisfied accessibility requirements, I managed typography usage within the iOS platform to ensure its effective usage of dynamic typography.
